Seriously, it's VERY annoying to sit on one of your buses sometimes. And that's if you even get a seat. (Pray you don't somehow end up at the bus stop near parkway at dismissal hour. KC girls will swamp you.)
So! If you manage to find a seat or manage to convince Mr. Teenager's Bag or Aunty's Bag of Groceries to give up their seat, you're in luck right?
I'm not your average-sized Singaporean. (People grow you know. People now are bigger than the chaps 20 years ago.)
Not that I refuse to share my seat, but honestly, it's VERY VERY difficult to. My legs often jut out awkward angles BECAUSE YOUR DAMN BUSES DON'T HAVE ENOUGH LEG SPACE. That makes the seat next to mine somewhat taken. Half. If I happen to seat on the outside, people can't cross.
They can, provided I retract my legs. Every bloody time someone passes by.
There is another solution. Fold your legs back into the bottom of the seat. But that's extremely uncomfortable. If your bus journey lasts more than 5 minutes, chances are, your legs will go numb after a bit. Not to mention it requires you to sit in a rather erect position, eliciting amused smirks from the people around you.
Look, it's not my fault, okay? I'm trying to be nice and give you ingrates seats. I'm sorry if I look silly. Perhaps you'd like to try sitting down in that cramped hell hole when you don't meet the specifications of the bus.
Oh no. We're not done yet >.>.
Nothing short of vivid is how I remember that one time... I hit my head on the bus. Double decker bus came. Since the upper deck is usually less crowded, I took 2 seats. (I'd give mine up in a heartbeat if there were people standing.)
My stop. Ding. *walks towards the stairs*
*THUD*
I could HEAR the bloody thud sound. For a moment there, my world started shrinking into darkness.. then in an instant everything was back again. Least I didn't get knocked out. Cue weird looks and stiffled chuckles.
In conclusion: 1) Provide more leg space.
2) Raise the height of those funny bars before the staircase on double deckers.
NOTE: No "I know you tall" thoughts please. This is purely from an annoyed Ian perspective.
