*Band plays national anthem*
*Major screw up*
*Ian and most musically-inclined people turn back instinctively*
*Screw up #2*
*Deja vu*
*Anthem ends*
"Hey, you boy. Why were you fidgeting so much during the national anthem?" I turn around and saw someone talking to me. Hello Indian Physics teacher.
"Wha? Oh. The band screwed up the anthem. I turned back and took a look." Curt reply. What'd I do wrong? I'm sorry if such mistakes cause me to move a lil. Maybe you should get your music senses tuned.
"Do you know what's the meaning of 'serdi-ya'?" (Or however you spell it.)
"Hmm. I don't know. I don't study Malay."
"It means attention."
"Oh. Okay, but the band screwed up so I turned."
"That's disrespecting the nation. You are supposed to stand at attention during the anthem." I got really annoyed at this point. I wondered if he missed a stage in puberty. That high pitched voice... GRATES on your ears.
"Mmm. Well, screwing up the national anthem is disrespecting it too, no?"
*Stares*
"But you should stand at attention.... see me outside Mr. Chia's office after assembly. Remain standing."
WTF?! Look, just because I made a valid point doesn't mean you brush me off like that. Bleedin' idiot. You ought to take a lesson in losing gracefully or at least learn how to maintain discussions. I got brushed off. I hate that.
Maybe when your family gets shot dead one by one by an inane rabbit while the national anthem is playing you'll hold still like a statue and sing your serdi-ya, but not everyone's retarded like that. Normal people TURN and REACT when something goes wrong.
See, I'm not the patriotic type. If Singapore seems like it's going to war, GOOD BYE! You can mobilise the entirety your 6-digit strong armed forces, but I'm telling you to just stop making people laugh. If Singapore's on the verge of economic collapse... Aufwiedersen! Ciao! Toodles! Sorry, I'm not going down with the nation. ): Just doesn't work that way.
Rest of the day was uneventful. Made a tiiiiiny error in my mock chemistry SPA, but that's it. 4F was dismissed shortly after the test and I waited with MC at the canteen for Chester.
"He say he coming."
*Calls*
"Err wait ah got fight here. Fight, Got fight."
Umm. Okay, cool. Bye.
So I waited at the bus stop, but my bus came only when Ches & Co decided to leave and get a bus. He asked me to tag along, but I never intended to anyway. Still had to get home and prepare for the concert later in the evening. Prolly thought I was quite petty, but it was never planned that I follow them to MAH JONG.
Torrential rainfall.
YAY.
No raincoat, no umbrella. Just me and my phone. (Oh shit.) And thus began the great journey. To the malay woman who stood NEXT to me and STARED at me while waiting for the traffic light WITH her umbrella, you are the nicest person I've EVER met. Keep being the good samaritan that you are! I'm sure you'll end up in whatever it is the quran equivalent of heaven is. Bless you.
Bleh. So anyway, cars stopped, their drivers and passengers stared where ever I went. Bloody miracle my phone and earphones still work. Yes, I was listening to music while walking. LOL.
Then when I got home, no one answered the door. I was left to hang dry at the doorstep, unable to get in (Mum would KILL me if I wet the carpet.) until someone handed me a towel. You'd think a parent would pick her child up during the storm of the century... but...
